Last Words of the Saints
As the calendar year winds down, so, too, does the liturgical year. During the final weeks of this year, the Church turns a focus towards the end times – both our own personally, and those of the world as we know it. As we celebrate the great feast of All Saint’s Day on November 1, followed immediately by All Souls on the 2nd, we are also drawn into contemplation of the lives – and deaths – of those who have gone before us.
Throughout November, Tekton Ministries is focusing on saints with a daily post on Facebook and Twitter. These posts will be sharing the last words of some of our brothers and sisters who have gone before us in faith. As they were facing their earthly end, we see how many were already looking towards Heaven and their union with the Lord.
Look for these posts mid-afternoon every day in November – during the 3:00pm hour, the Hour of Mercy. During the crucifixion, our Lord asked for prayers for the dying, that they be open to receiving God’s mercy in their last moments so as to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. During this time we reflect on the lives of the faithful that have passed before us.

For many of these holy people, their death was but an extension of their life and so their last words flowed naturally out of their love for the Lord and His Church. Are we living our lives in such a way that our deaths will reflect this deep faith? What do you want your last words to be?
